Two herons in East Tennessee

This 4th photo is not the best, but look at those wings.

These 2 Heron were fighting. Thought one was going to kill the other. I think I disturbed them and one flew off. Is this part of nature? Maybe the one was injured and the other kills it? Ecobirder, do you know? If the one was not injured to begin with it sure was afterwards. One flew off, but the other one looked in bad shape afterwards.

I'm so used to just seeing the heron standing there posing so still. You captured some unique shots! I'm anxious to hear ecobirder's answer too!

How amazing to see the two birds fighting! The pictures of them are great! I'm curious, as well, as to why they would fight, and hope someone knows. Have a great week!

I do believe these kinds of birds are quite territorial, and I think this was the reason for their fighting, although I would never have thought fighting would go on this time of year. Mmmm. It will be interesting to hear what others will say about the situation.
