Pink Hardy Hibiscus

Several years ago I bought 2 hardy hibiscus at the same time. One white and one a VERY dark red. Thought they would look great next to each other. Apparently in the hibiscus family the white is the dominant color. The red soon turned white. They are now planted 150 ft from each other and the red has now turned back to the above color. Maybe when I bought it they had put food coloring in the water, or maybe it just can't get back to it's original color. At least it has turned back to pink, and I do like the color. I like the fact that daylilies and iris don't bleed over like that, they can be planted right next to each other. I didn't know about the hibiscus, but we live and learn.

You have a beautiful blog, you show a true loving nature for all things in this wonderful universe we have been given. I especially love the picture of Granny Mize. There is so much love in that shot, the true love in a woman's heart. I love the fact that she has let her hair grow long in spite of the current trends and probable ridicule. I too have long hair and at age 59, my Mother is constantly saying, CUT YOUR HAIR...

I am an artist and just think out of the box, but it is me and my...and holds a certain mystique to this artistic soul...like I can take risks. RIGHT ON GRANNY!

I too love photographing birds for bird studies, having once done taxidermy, I truly see all the beauty from the inside-out, but the vanity of it all made me stop...couldn't stand the "MAN-THING' of it.

Have a wonderful, colorful, Fall weekend.

I think it's cool when the flowers bleed into one another, my petunias do that.

Beautiful! Hibiscus are my favorite flower, I have several varieties of tropical hibiscus, but have not found any hardy hibiscus at local nurseries yet.
