Cades Cove in Smoky Mountains

All 3 photographs were taken this past Tuesday at the entrance into Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We had some snow the night before, but not very much.

Sky Watch/overlooking Cataloochee Cove - GSMNP

You can see why the Smokies are called the 'Blue Ridges' from these photos.

I took these as we left Cataloochee Cove. I posted some last week on Sky Watch Friday from around the same time, the other end of the same parking lot. This is the last of the Cataloochee Cove photos. I hope you have enjoyed the Cades Cove series and the Cataloochee Cove series over the last couple of weeks.

Please visit Sky Watch to see sky photos from all over the world.

Overlook going into Cataloochee Cove - GSMNP

These photographs were taken September 6, at the overlook going into Cataloochee Cove in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This cove is accessed from I-40 exit 20 in North Carolina. Less than an hour from my house, but I have never even heard of this cove until a month ago. From the interstate it is just 10 miles, but about 5 of it is gravel, on the side of the mountain. Up 5 miles and then down 5 miles into the cove, about half of each way is gravel. The bad part is while you are in the cove you know you have to go back that same way to get back out.

These photographs were actually taken as we were leaving, late in the evening.

Please visit Sky Watch Friday for some wonderful sky photographs.

Skywatch Friday September 5

This sunset photo was taken standing in the middle of my back yard, late winter 2008.My 2 youngest brothers work and live on one of the small islands in Turks Caicos. Just received an email they made it through Hanna with minor problems. But Ike is suppose to be a category 3 or 4 when it hits them. Please pray for them, and for my Mother as she sits and waits for word from them after the storm. I had a rainbow photo I was going to post for SkyWatch Friday this week, but I just couldn't do it after receiving this email.
