Monarch on Zinnia

I was at the neighbor's house the other day and he asked what kind of of butterfly this was. Needless to say, I started snapping.Notice the polka dots on his body.
This last photo is not very good, but it is real hard to catch a Monarch with it's wings laid flat.

Ecobirder, I finally figured out to get the photos a tad bid larger. Still on this dialup, so I am still limited.

  1. You'll never believe I was just outside chasing a black or dark blue butterfly, usually I can get close to them, this one was just a jittering and fluttering everyone. He'll be back. Just saw 4 hummingbirds dive bombing each other!

Love this Monarch-it almost looks fake it's so perfect.
There are web sites to identify these others for you; it just take a long time to look at them all. Sorry I can't help any better than that.

  3. I am glad that you were able to figure out how to get your pics bigger especially since the monarch shots are beautiful. It is amazing that you have such a great blog even though you are still on dial up.
