You have to have patience. Sometimes other birds will take the box, be careful of sparrows, they will kill the Bluebird to get the box. Tree Swallows will just run them out of some boxes, but then the Bluebirds will follow the Tree Swallow in the same box. It almost seems we have a Tree Swallow problem, but we still have the Bluebirds.

I put up a bluebird house this spring but no takers. We do have red-bellied woodpeckers. Great shots
